This dictionary is one of the results of the researches in prosodic grammar and stylistic grammar and the first reference book that contrasts monosyllables with their disyllabic synonyms designed for Chinese language users, L2 and L1 Chinese teachers, and linguistic researchers. The dictionary includes more than 800 pairs of monosyllabic and disyllabic synonyms, which fall into four categories—nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs, and expounds how the synonyms of each pair differ from each other in terms of collocations, special sentence patterns, semantic connotations, stylistic properties, and prosodic features.
