Teaching English Online to Young Learners: 100 FAQs aims to provide English language teachers with solutions to commonly occurring problems or challenges in online teaching. In order to make this book more useful and practical, we have conducted both teacher surveys and teacher interviews over the years, and we have collected more than several hundred cases with problems and challenges online English teachers often encounter.

We have carefully chosen 100 of the most representative cases for analysis based on four themes: namely, second language acquisition theories, teaching principles and methodology, the tools and functions of technology in language teaching, and Chinese children’s learning styles and parental and societal expectations. We have carefully selected each case to contextualize the teaching scenario in which we clearly spell out problems, difficulties, or challenges via a key question. We then analyze the situation with explanations, interpretations, justifications, and/or implications before making concrete and practical suggestions or recommendations for our teachers. In addition, we added “Reflection” sections to enable our teachers to reflect on their own learning experiences or those of their learners to make connections,to think differently, and to make inferences to other related or similar problems they have encountered or will encounter. Each case ends with key references for those who want to dig deeper into the issue and become experts themselves as well as keywords for the ease of search.
