“Royal cats” refers to about 180 cats roaming in the Palace Museum. Most of them are the posterities of royal families’ pets and they were “hired” as “special securities (for rat infestation)” by the Palace Museum in late 1990s. “Royal cats” became a mascot of Palace Museum on the internet among millennials. Then the Palace Museum launched series of “loyal cats” cultural & creative products, which was one of the hottest topic in 2014 year.
